Illinois State Police dies after self-inflicted gunshot wounds to Dan Ryan. State police are investigating the death of Dan Ryan after the soldier died from a gunshot wound.
An Illinois State Trooper has passed on in the wake of experiencing a self-caused discharge wound Friday evening on Interstate 94, sources tell FOX 32.
At about 1:42 p.m. Friday, ISP Trooper Gerald Mason was found in his crew vehicle on I-94 northward in the nearby paths at 43rd Street with a solitary discharge wound, police said.
Illinois State Police said they are leading a passing examination after a state trooper kicked the bucket from a discharge twisted on the Dan Ryan Friday evening.
At a news gathering Friday night, state police recognized him as District Chicago Trooper Gerald Mason.
State police said there is no security danger to police or the general population. They have not delivered any extra data about the conditions encompassing the shootings.
Chicago cops moved Trooper Mason to the emergency clinic with genuine, dangerous wounds.
At 2:16 p.m., police said Trooper Mason capitulated to his wounds.
“It is with significant grief and unimaginable trouble that we advise you regarding the passing of Trooper Gerald Mason. Trooper Mason was one of the numerous courageous Troopers appointed to ISP District Chicago. We are requesting people in general to consciously offer thought to the family from Trooper Mason and the entire ISP family while we proceed to lament and work through this misfortune,” expressed Director Brendan Kelly.
Trooper Mason was 36-years of age and a 11-year veteran of the Illinois State Police. He leaves behind his mom and three kin.

“I was on the northwest side of the city when I got the call from the University of Chicago advising me to get down there for Gerald,” said mother Linda Mason. “I beseeched them to let me know he wasn’t the state trooper who had chance on 43rd Street. They said they couldn’t do that.”
“It was horrendous and the most noticeably terrible day of my life,” she said.
On Thursday, state police said they were expanding evening and overnight watches in Chicago after an exceptional ascent in shootings on region interstates. In excess of 185 shootings have been accounted for on Chicago freeways so far this year, over twofold last year.
