Major PlayStation Games’ TV Series will begin filming. Important PlayStation names such as God of War, Gran Turismo and Horizon are becoming a series.
Sony has recently started to pay more attention to the cinema and TV series side. Determined to bring the PlayStation game universe they created to the big screen, the company recently released Uncharted. As Nathan Drake as Tom Holland and Victor Sullivan as Michael Wahlberg, Uncharted film adaptation was successful compared to the films and received generally positive reviews from the audience. Sony is also currently working on a Last of Us series. The series, which will be broadcast by HBO, is expected to meet the audience in 2023.
With the new news, it turned out that Sony has plans for other names. We will continue to see new adaptations from Sony, as confirmed by David Gibson, one of the industry’s insider names, which was revealed at an investor meeting held on May 26. Sony president Jim Ryan also said at a Q&A event that the company will further advance and expand adaptation productions.
According to the news, God of War, Horizon and Gran Turismo are serials. While Netflix will make the Horizon series, Amazon will be in charge of God of War. It is not yet clear by which service Gran Turismo will be developed. Last of Us, which was announced earlier, is being developed by HBO. It seems that Sony prefers to work with different names on TV series. For now, it is a matter of curiosity who will make Gran Turismo.
Both Netflix and Amazon are popular for adapted names. Netflix won the admiration of the audience, especially with Arcane. Although it does not deal with game adaptations, the existence of productions such as The Boys and Invincible shows that Amazon has a lot of potential in this regard. We will see how these giants will work with the PlayStation names in their hands in the coming years.
