Dua Lipa being sued again by paparazzo
This is the second time that Dua Lipa has been sued by a photojournalist for posting a photo with the star in it. The singer is not the only known person to be sued by the paparazzi.
As reported by Billboard, New York photographer Robert Barbera is taking on the case.
The photo that Dua Lipa shared on her Instagram was taken by paparazzo in 2018. The photo showed the singer in a black sweater with the inscription “HEROES”. The post, which resulted in a lawsuit against the singer, disappeared from social media.
A quote from Billboard’s lawsuit states, “Without plaintiff’s consent or authorization, defendant voluntarily selected, copied, and stored each of the copyrighted photographs.”
Barbera has filed for compensation and some of the profits she made by posting photos of Dua Lipa on Instagram, where she “advertises music, brands and partnerships”.
Lawsuit against Dua Lipa for the second time
Dua Lipa and her team are not commenting on the case. But it is known that this is the second lawsuit filed against the star regarding the sharing of a photo of the paparazzi.
In 2021, another photographer – along with his agency Integral Images – demanded 150,000 from the singer in court. She received dollars in compensation after posting a photo of her taken at the airport on Instagram.
Similar adventures have been experienced by Gigi Hadid, Liam Hemsworth, Khloe Kardashian, Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber, and Jennifer Lopez. Some of the accused stars lost their lawsuits in court. And so, for ignorance of copyright, they were punished, among others. Ariana Grande, Gigi Hadid and Justin Bieber.
On the other hand, Kanye West had an unusual idea and said that the paparazzi would have to pay royalties to her and other famous people for the possibility of photographing her.
“Right now anyone can take our pictures without paying. I want to change that. I’m not saying this in a negative way. I’m just standing on the other side of the barricade” – she explained. “They can follow us, they can literally wait for us in front of the hotel at any moment – we got nothing from us and our children what they earned. I will change it” – continued.
Dua Lipa will be one of the stars of the Open’er Festival 2022 in Gdynia.
